Two justices of the Supreme Court are murdered and the F.B.I. has no clues. Darby Shaw, a law student, thinks she has the answer. A brief she drafted speculating on an obscure connection between the two justices leads to a most unlikely suspect. Someone has read her brief and wants her dead. She contacts investigative reporter Gary Grantham and convinces him that Washington's position on the killings amounts to the biggest cover-up since Watergate. Together they go underground, on the run, trying to stay alive long enough to expose the truth. |
