Chesley Burnett Sullenberger III is an airline pilot who was born on January 23, 1951 in Texas. He is the American airline captain who on January 15, 2009, landed US Airways Flight 1549 on the Hudson River off Manhattan after both engines were disabled by a bird strike. Everyone aboard survived. Sullenberger has become a speaker on airline safety and a CBS News Aviation and Safety Expert. He has also been honored at the White House by both President Geroge W.
