Allman also had a solo career. His albums included Laid Back, Low Country Blues, and Southern Blood. As a member of the Allman Brothers Band, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 and received a Grammy Award for lifetime achievement in 2012. His autobiography, My Cross to Bear written with Alan Light, was published in 2012. He died from complications of liver cancer on May 27, 2017 at the age of 69. (Bowker Author Biography) |
