Her first movie, Romance on the High Seas, was released in 1948. She starred in about 40 movies during her career including Teacher's Pet, The Tunnel of Love, By the Light of the Silvery Moon, Calamity Jane, April in Paris, The Pajama Game, Young Man With a Horn, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Love Me or Leave Me, Pillow Talk, Lover Come Back, That Touch of Mink, The Thrill of It All, and With Six You Get Eggroll. Her CBS comedy, The Doris Day Show, ran for five years. She retired from acting in 1973. She founded The Doris Day Animal Foundation. During the 1985-86 television season, she was the host of Doris Day's Best Friends on the Christian Broadcasting Network. In 2008, she received a lifetime achievement Grammy Award. In 2011, she released her first album in almost 20 years, My Heart. The book, Doris Day: Her Own Story by A. E. Hotchner based on a series of interviews he conducted with Day, was published in 1976.
