She directed her first movie, Jumpin' Jack Flash, in 1986. Her other movies included Awakenings, A League of Their Own, Renaissance Man, The Preacher's Wife, and Riding in Cars with Boys. She became the first woman to direct a feature film that grossed more than $100 million when she made Big in 1988. Her memoir, My Mother Was Nuts, was published in 2012.
